Introduction to Yoga, 75 minutes, Private and Semi-Private (up to 2 persons) Instructional Yoga Classes.

“Intro to Yoga” is a course of Kripalu Yoga classes for persons with little or no experience with yoga. Classes will generally be 75 minutes long and include breath work (pranayama), postures (asana), simple Vinyassa, relaxation and meditation. Upon completion, continuing students would be able to join basic level I classes with confidence in their ability.

Exploring Levels I & II, 90 minutes, Private and Semi-Private (up to 2 persons) Instructional Yoga Classes.

Exploring Levels I & II picks up where Intro to Yoga stops. Building and balancing strength over the whole body while introducing additional asana. Special attention is given to alignment and fuller expression of postures with longer holding times. Additional Vinyassa is introduced to use the breath while practicing moving from one asana to another asana.  Students can easily participate in other Level I & II and Mixed Level classes and are encouraged to attend additional classes or develop their own practice. Upon completion, continuing students would be able to join basic level I & II classes with confidence in their ability and be prepared to begin regular Level II  / Intermediate or Dynamic Vinyassa classes.

Gentle Classes, 75 minutes.

Gentle classes are appropriate for the student with some physical limitation, recovering from injury/illness, or desiring a slower paced, flowing and nurturing Yoga experience. This level is designed to promote better respiratory, immune and circulatory functions, increased flexibility, release of physical tension, willingness to self-care, and peace of mind. Supported postures and self-bodywork are often included.

Level I & Level II Classes, & Mixed Level Classes, 75 minutes.

Level I & II classes are for the healthy beginner and continuing student of Yoga. Emphasis is on building and expanding the foundational experience of Hatha Yoga postures and principles of alignment while guiding the student in self-awareness and self acceptance. Pranayama, meditation, and asana allow the student to gain skills for overall improvement of physical, emotional, and mental health. Mixed level classes will include intermediate yoga depending on the students abilities.

Level II / Intermediate, 75 minutes. Intermediate, Dynamic Vinyassa 90 minutes.

Intermediate level allows refinement of the universal principles of alignment & deeper experience of bio-mechanics gained from Levels I & II. Yogic philosophy, willful practice (holding postures), pranayama, & emotional exploration are aspects of this class. Greater gains in overall strength & flexibility may be expected, while cultivating increased awareness, focus & self knowledge.

Hatha Yoga for over 60, 60 minutes.

For the active senior desiring the basic benefits of Yoga: strength, flexibility, improved breathing and stress reduction, this class offers a safe environment with attention to individual needs.
